Medical Cannabis
Cannabis, and its active ingredients, cannabinoids, have been reported to have therapeutic effects in diseases such as cancer, epilepsy, autism, schizophrenia, depression, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Crohn’s disease, neuropathic pain, multiple sclerosis, migraine and many other disorders.
At GH Medical we aim to collect the available anecdotal evidence and where possible substantiate this with rigorous, science-based evidence. Hereto we will isolate each individual cannabinoid, test their biochemical and physiological function and most importantly their therapeutic potential, either alone or in combination with other cannabinoids. We will first test which cannabinoid (cocktail) most effectively reduces tumour growth. After that, we aim to tackle other diseases and disorders.
Genetics
We have the world’s largest genetic library of cannabis strains including several unique landraces, which were obtained by the Strain Hunters on expeditions to the most remote regions of the world. These landraces are reported to have therapeutic properties but are mostly unknown to the general public and scientific world.
Analytic Testing
At the GH Medical laboratory we offer clients complete analytical testing for the usual contaminants that are found in cannabis, such as mould, fungus, bacteria, chemical residues, salts, remaining solvent and pesticides. In addition our lab offers full quantitative profiling of cannabinoids and other terpenes.

Heiko has been active in international business development for 2 decades. Inspired by the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids, Heiko founded GHM in 2014 as a research vehicle under Stichting Strain Hunters Foundation.
Dr. Joost Heeroma
Director of Science
Joost Heeroma, PhD, runs the Science Department at GHM. Joost is an expert in medical physiology, neurobiology and genetics. Joost has studied the genetic basis for disease for more than 15 years and now focuses on the endocannabinoid system and the vast therapeutic potential of cannabinoids.
Alberto Sainz
Science Manager
Alberto designs and runs scientific studies about the potential therapeutic effects of cannabis for GHM. He has a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Neurobiology.

Daniel is an agro-environmental engineer, an expert on plant nutrition and genetic crop improvement with more than 10 years of experience in this field. He leads this department in Spain.
